Little League Baseball and Softball Clinics

We may be in the middle of winter here in Maine, but Orrington Little League is already preparing for the upcoming season and our board of directors want to make sure you and your player(s) are ready too.  We are excited to offer new and returning players an opportunity to participate in a pair of free winter skills clinics in February at the Center Drive School Gymnasium.  We’ll be hosting two clinics at CDS.

These clinics present a wonderful opportunity for returning players to sharpen their skills and for new players to learn some of the games fundamentals and have some fun too.  New this year we will also be hosting an equipment swap, and a drawing for a brand-new Easton Backpack.

The clinics will be separated into baseball and softball divisions. These clinics will work on the essential baseball and softball skills necessary for your child to be successful in the upcoming season.  We will have two clinics each for baseball and softball, and they will be scheduled as follows:

For those parents who may be new to Orrington Little League, children are required to bring their own gloves to clinics. We’ll provide the balls. We’ll also have a limited number of bats and batting helmets for use, but we ask players to bring their own bats and helmets if they have them. We also ask softball players to bring face masks.  Also, please bring "inside" sneakers that have not been worn outside. New this year, we will have a table for donated equipment.   Parents who wish to donate equipment that their players have outgrown are welcome to do so.  Board members have already collected some items.

We look forward to teaching your child the skills of baseball and softball, athletic discipline, interpersonal skills, and good sportsmanship.  We would like you all to remember that Little League is about perspective, not wins and losses because today’s Little Leaguers are tomorrow’s leaders.

In January, we will finalize our February registration dates and March player evaluations.  We will post this information to our Facebook page and website calendar. If you haven’t joined our Facebook page or checked out our website yet, please do so.  These are the primary places where you can find information, calendars, registration information, etc. In the meantime, feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Chris Facchini
